My Trip To North Carolina Kite Surfing
Published on Sunday, September 11th, 2011
No Pictures - No Visual Documentation - Lisa sent me out solo for 5 days to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to Kite Surf at the Real Kite Board Camp. Let me simply say this: "I traveled to Cape Hatteras, NC. I went on a downwinder called 'Planet of the Apes' on the Sound side of Hatteras. This easily claims a place on my top 10 list of best kite sessions ever! 'Apes' consisted of the flattest water I have ever ridden. Low lying, grass-covered islands shelter the sideshore breeze so the downwind side of the islands makes for flat-water bliss. The chopless riding was nearly silent and a rainbow shaped rooster tail formed from the tail of my board until I dug in, loaded up, and soared into flight. Time seemed to slow down just enough for me to realize that the moment was perfect. I felt God's Hand."
